I just finished watching a documentary about planned obsolescence called Pyramids of Waste, Garantert kort levetid in Norwegian. It was very interesting - you should see it too. Find it here. Most of the talking is in English, and a little bit is in German and French. There are Norwegian subtitles. It will only be online until December 14th.

The theme for this documentary is spot on the theme for a new and exciting project I have started together with graphic designer Trine Hisdal (she doesn't have a real online home yet). I will show and tell more about it later, but you can already mark the date April 1st, which will be our official launch and vernissage.

Edit: Siri made me aware that you can not watch the documentary on NRK web TV unless you are in Norway. So sorry to tease you guys! :-(

most inspiring blogger

As I mentioned here, Karianne of the lovely Mammadamen gave me an award; I am someone's absolute number 1 most inspiring blogger! Her wonderful words made me humbled and happy, and inspire me to keep on doing this Hei Astrid thing (don't worry, I haven't thought of stopping ;-)).

Now my duty is
- to give this award to the blogger I find most inspiring + explain why (with photos)
- to only give the award to ONE blogger; this is a special award
- to link back to HERE where the award's journey started

This is of course a hard task because I follow a lot of super inspiring blogs written by a bunch of super inspiring people. Since the award was created by a Norwegian blogger - Namaste of Kreativ Impulsiv - I decided to pass the award on to one of the Norwegian blogs I follow. (I have also noticed that this blog award thing seems to be a phenomenon on Norwegian blogs.) Still it's a hard choice, but my final decision is

Linda of Norsk Stil

Linda is my number one most inspiring blogger because


Linda's profession as an interior architect reflects on her blog. I love her design tips and seeing her design inspiration, which is different than most other Norwegian interior design blogs. I also love that she shares a mix of her own work/home and things done by others.


Seeing photos of other people's homes inspire me. Linda's home is truly inspiring - both in photos and in real life (I was there for the launch of the 2011 IKEA catalogue).


Her selfmade projects are beautiful, functional and decorative.


She's an elegant lady with an impeccable sense of fashion.


She has designed her own color for Kulør. Midnight darkness never looked better!

bigger photos

A little while ago I told you that I'm considering having bigger photos here in this space. I don't know any kind of coding, but thanks to Google I finally figured out how to make the photos bigger.

It started with a tip from Monika (unfortunately I no longer have the link to her blog) a while ago about how to increase the overall width of the blog + the photo. I followed her tip and made the header wider too. Then I came across this; a very useful tip about setting up a private test blog. Finally I followed this simple guide on how to enlarge photos on Blogger. I created a "test hei Astrid" blog where I played around with different settings until I got it all right.

I don't plan to change the size of all photos in my blog archive, so there will for ever be a very visual partition of before and after big photos. I think I'm ok with that.
