things I like today

All the fresh snow from yesterday was washed away by rain during the night. The streets are once again bare. This Friday is grey, wet and windy. I need some fresh flowers to brighten my day.

- A very Bergen birthday
- back to the future photo project (via A Cup of Jo)
- There's No Place Like Here: Hindsvik short film
- tiny.k (via Door Sixteen)

By the way, I don't know if you know this, but I'm a very organized girl. All the photos in my Flickr photostream is organized in sets and all my blog posts have labels - you can see them all in the sidebar. For example if you are curious about all the posts I have done on my home, click the label "my home". All the posts from the mountain cabin are labeled "the mountain cabin", my musings about the weather and life are labeled "life" and all the posts that are like this one, with lots of links, are labeled "things I like today". Feel free to explore the Hei Astrid archives :-)

everyday life after NY

August/September sunset seen from our kitchen window

We slept 13 hours last night, trying to sleep off the jet lag after our return from New York Monday morning. It felt so good to sleep in a more or less silent room again; one of the few things I didn't like about NY was all the noise from the air condition, traffic etc. I came to the office late today. To be honest, I don't think I will get much done today, work wise. My head is still on vacation, in the great great city of New York.

Here are some other things on my mind/that I like today:

- this wonderful award from Karianne aka Mammadamen (I will respond to the award soon)
- looking forward to picking up two New York films from the lab on my way home from the office
- the second Seed lamp has arrived
- a colleague brought homemade carrot cake for lunch
- my new comfortable wine red corduroy Uniqlo pants bought in NYC
- reading this after posting this on Flickr (this one is funny too)
- Sølve ordered this soup again for dinner tonight - we both loved it!
- the snow is gone and I don't mind the pouring rain
- Christine's words on photo posting
- J. Crew images on Bonnie's blog - we don't have J. Crew in Norway and I just found out I love it
- Susannah's detox idea
- this photo by Nick and this by my friend Anja, who recently picked up her analog camera again
- thinking about the art we bought in New York
- looking forward to the Halloween themed double 30th birthday party this upcoming weekend; we already have our costumes planned

elfin sprout

This photo is an interior alibi for my NIB (Norwegian interior design blogs) membership. It shows how I use my Wik & Walsøe vase (a wedding gift); I keep it on the kitchen bench for kitchen utensils - but only wood utensils because they are much more pretty than the cheap IKEA plastic ones.

There has not been so much interior design related posts here lately. My apologies! I have a bit of a backlog of photos (especially film photos) from the summer that I want to show you. I hope you don't mind. In the mean time you can have a look at these interior design related links:

- Charlotte's beautiful home and her old home
- my sister's architecture and interior set
- my home seen through other people's lenses
- Otto's brilliant wallpapers
- famapa's inspiring home
- Abigail & Ryan's lovely homeware collection
- inspiring homes over at Freunde von Freunden
- happy, colorful Blafre
- Silje Chantel's elegant home
- inspirational spaces - indeed!
- Nytt Rom blog

Film: Fuji Velvia 100F (photo taken in April, hence the cold early spring light)

EDIT: Abigail turns 27 today and is having an annual birthday sale in her jewellery shop + the Abigail & Ryan shop. Check her blog for details.

at the office

I came back to the office after the summer vacation on Monday this week. It still feels like summer here; there are not so many people around as there normally is, and my head is not yet really into proper work mode. On the other hand it kind of feels like autumn is very, very slowly coming - in a good way. I'm filled with anticipation for what the next months will bring.

Things I like today
- Matilde's blog and photos (she's the one who got my chair)
- launch of the IKEA 2011 catalogue on Tuesday next week at Linda of Norsk Stil's place
- Brian's Paris photos
- t.h.murphy's Flickr photostream
- Danish photographer Ditte Isager's blog (via Emmas designblogg) (A while back Jen of Simply Photo did an interview with Ditte, read it here.)

- Aromatic Thai Chicken and Lemongrass Soup for lunch in the sun down at the dock with a couple of the artists + a surprise drink of apple juice with fresh ginger
- photographer Mikkel Vang's portfolio, especially his work for Donna Hay and Gourmet (RIP) magazines
- crisp bread with tzatziki cream cheese and thin slices of pink lady apple for afternoon snack
- my new to me fancy office desk that can move up and down

These two shots were taken in my colleague's office and by my desk in early June. Film: Fuji Pro 160S
